Finding a way of giving back…

…for the past 4 1/2 years I have been getting closer and closer to my dream…getting my PhD in Art Therapy. When I opened up my photography business I realized the therapy alone that was involved in photography…knowing what art has to offer as a way of healing and coping. Something inside of me has always wondered what my place was here in world and I am finding the answer more and more each day. Then one day I came across a business opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up. Chase Bank along with Living Social is offering 12 businesses $250,000 to help their business within their community! This was perfect for my wanting more out of life and finding a way to give back. I do not need to go into detail as many will find answers in my application for this grant:  If this is something you believe in please take the time to vote for Victoria Campbell Photography!

Tell us about your business; how successful is it and why is it unique?

I am I natural light photographer who takes lifestyle photographs. I am very affordable but always had this image of helping people in need through the form of art. My mission with this is to help capture and provide memories for families who are dealing with the hectic schedules due to having a child or loved one who is suffering from cancer or a serious illness. I want to help offer emotional support through the beauty and expression art has to offer, as a way of healing and coping. A way to organize other local photographers volunteer their time and give back.

How is your business involved with the community you serve?

My business is a small local business in my community and hasn’t really had the chance to grow to make a difference within my community. I wish to help other local business flourish with networking and keeping the local business there for one another. I have always believed in paying it forward and with the help through others and the help through photography and art we will have the gift to give back!

What would a $250k grant mean to your business plan and how will you utilize the funds to ensure long-term growth and stability?

I believe this grant money with help me get my plan off to a wonderful start if not supply everything that I wished for with my gift and talent. Through the power of photography and the gift of art I want to give back and take a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world. So many children and adults suffer within and what a better way to let them know that they are not alone and having a visual of their heroic process, their stories will inspire so many more! With this grant money I will be able to still be an affordable photographer for so many families who believe this is something that they cannot afford…I want them to know its not that out of reach.

What types of challenges can you identify with your plan and how will you overcome them?

A challenge I foresee is finding other local photographers volunteering (no charge to these families in need) their time, but in the end when they see what this program I have in mind can do for the community I really do not see it being a challenge for long.

Describe the talent on your team and how they make your business successful.

My dedication to art, photography, and psychology has gotten me this far in life and with others backing my dreams and desires I see my business growing and helping others cope with the stress of their daily lives by capturing their life in pictures for memories to last a lifetime. I would one day like to expand my local business to surrounding communities to spread the “pay it forward” so to speak. I would love to finish my PhD in Art Therapy and use my photography business as a means of therapy for clients such as Autism to help them find their way of communicating and finding hope.

Additional relevant information you would like to share

I have watched my father suffer and lose his battle with cancer and this is another driving force for me to get a program like this in place because I know firsthand what these families are going through…let alone their children.
