Broken families are still “families”

My honey said the sweetest things on Facebook today about his family and the people that matter the most. It doesn’t necessarily mean blood when it comes to family…although we do love our blood relatives through thick and thin {well we try to at least} you can find another form of family in the strangest places. Years ago I had a door close on my life and for years kept wanting to look at that closed door to later realize I was not doing myself any favors for me or for my children. I have learned after one door closes another door opens and I am an inch closer to a better tomorrow every day. Today my life is blessed with an extended family that was so unexpected. I will continue to embrace change. I love you Greg, Sam, and Heather Campbell. It is a joy to introduce more friends that I consider family like Tonya, Jim, Sydney, and Taylor Campbell. It took awhile to learn that the only person who truly could ever make me happy is me. My children and “hubby” and his children are wonderful added happiness. I enjoy following my honest convictions and remain strong! My family and friends will always be part of my life today and tomorrow, and look forward to many new doors opening up.

So when I opened up my laptop this morning and read my husband’s wall post it just reminded me of why I fell in love with him.  This is what he wrote:

“First Dad, Mom, and Ed I miss you and wish you were here, I love you and miss you. To all my friends, Merry Christmas to all, take time to remember the loved ones that are with us and those who are not. 20 yrs. ago today God blessed me with the most wonderful, beautiful little girl in the world, Sammy I love you HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and just when i thought it couldn’t get better 2 and a half yrs. later he blessed me with another beautiful girl, Heather, love you to munchkin. . To my nieces and nephews: I miss you and hope to see you soon Merry Christmas, and to my sisters love you too, we need to get together sometime, Merry Christmas. . 6 + yrs. ago I got divorced and out of the divorce I got the better half of the family, my in-laws, Jim, Tonya, and two more beautiful nieces Syd and Taylor, [ your not in-laws any more you are my brother and sister] love you guys, hope to see you over the holidyas . .That leads me to a 45 yrs. old man feeling down on my self then I met this beautiful blue-eyed woman Vickie, there is not and cannot be a better woman in the world for me, she took me and my two girls in, and we are still going strong Thank you baby I love you more than words can say, and to her three wonderful kids Makayla, Tyler, and Frankie I don’t say it enough I love you guys. . So this Christmas count your blessings, [ I know I am] Give a hug to the ones you love and let them know how special they are in your life. Tell them all from me MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR, I hope the Holidays bring lots of joy to everyone.”

This is family at its best 🙂

greg - wow what a beautiful looking family lol. love you vick.

greg - Over the last few days my better half [Vickie] keeps getting messages on her blog, so I thought it was time for me to read some. I can’t believe how much we [or I] take things for granted. How lucky I am to have someone in my life that can see the world with the eyes of a child, such is a photographer, a person who can see beauty on a daily basis, a flower blooming in spring, warm clothes [accessories] on a winter day, the beauty in a child sleeping. Things I take for granted she sees with the eyes of a child. My life is better just for knowing her let alone her being in my life. I am very proud of you Vickie, keep up the great work. To everyone who reads her blogs I thank you, you only see her writings and pictures she want you to know she really is a beautiful person………… Thank you Vick I love you……… I
