Mother’s Day
Being behind on my blog is bit of an understatement! Yikes! This is one area I let go when my days get pretty full, both personal and business. But since it was just Mother’s Day this past weekend I like to share a few of my recent maternity and family sessions I never got the chance to share. A Winter Maternity Session
So of course as a photographer I cannot wait to take pictures and capture precious moments of my own family. Having an early March due date only means you are going to have a very cold outdoor maternity session here in Ohio. And I always enjoy a good indoor lifestyle maternity shoot as well. Youngstown Wedding – Ellie and George!

Beautiful Winter Beach Engagement Shoot
So it’s literally freezing temperatures out and what does a soon bride-to-be want for her engagement session? The beach…YAY for the beach…but nay for the freezing temps…but believe it or not…it wasn’t all that FREEZING…thank goodness for the lack of breeze. The sun was perfect and my couple was perfect. I actually had a Friday the 13th wedding finally! YAY me! And it was at a venue I’ve never been before…and let me tell you…GORGEOUS! Kicking Cancer’s Ass ~ 21 weeks down
WOW! All I can say even when life is slowly (and I mean slowly) getting back to a new normal I am amazed by the love and support from everyone…including strangers! I felt like a single mom having to do it all to now the hubs being able to help…much relief there and get so excited to see him improve on his daily activity. In the beginning he would peter out so quickly…like a simple task of taking a walk…it was literally 5 driveways down and we had to turn around to come back home…to walking a mile…even though it may have taken 45 minutes to walk that mile…he WALKED…

Kicking Cancer’s Ass…12 weeks down and its still taking forever!
Now that treatment is over I feel the waiting is just terrible…its awful…watching the hubs in his worst pain the week after his last treatment was unbearable…and dealing with this feeding tube plain-ole SUCKS…there I said it…I know the damn thing is there to help him stay nourished by boy oh boy…I do not like it one bit… changing his feeding bags, crushing all his meds to administer them through the tube…all of this is so time consuming. And I am on my own now…while he was in treatment he was surrounded by the world’s greatest army ~ Cleveland Clinic who worked tirelessly keeping him afloat…with the main goal…cure…

Still KICKING CANCER’S ASS…7 WEEKS AND COUNTING…
Everyday in the hospital I am grateful he is here…all the attention is he getting is far more than I can offer when he is home…and the good news is he will get Home Care for approximately 3 weeks when he is “released” from this place…such a bittersweet feeling…I miss him at home but know he’s at the right place right now…when he does come home the “nursing” staff is ME and I DO NOT have their patience…they know what they are doing…me I know what is ahead of me with this feeding tube thing…and turning all his meds into liquid and running it through his tube….ugh…why was I excited…

So much has happened in the week and a half…the poor guy can’t catch a break. I’m actually enjoying working again because I’m gravitating to some normalcy and feeling pretty guilty about it because the hub’s new normalcy blows. It pretty much sucks the big one if you ask me…He tries so hard to eat but when he does he struggles and feels worse and worse as the day goes on and it becomes such a vicious cycle. He’s losing more and more weight and continues to walk around like a zombie almost feeling like he’s overmedicated but yet still in so much pain. I’m almost afraid to mention I…

…its chemo day today and the hubs is being hospitalized. We had to come to radiation early in case he wouldn’t be able to make it like last time. Getting up at 4:30 am is a difficult task ~ especially if your emotionally and physically exhausted but I took pride today because I was up {the only way for me to get up at this hour is to pull an all-nighter} Today I am going to regret this…but what a better place to be than a hospital haha…I will just crash when the hubs is ready to crash. I last wrote a week ago today…thinking a week at a time was good enough to keep family and friends in the loop…boy was I wrong…Friday after the hubs had some extra fluids in him he came home and rested…honestly feeling so much better…The best he has felt since the whole treatment started. I last blogged on the first day of chemo and radiation for Greg before we left the house…it was my way of therapy…but the moment we got in the car the nerves started going at it again. The Beginning of the End….The End of Cancer That Is…
…it was a normal doctor visit for Greg (the hubs) on November 20, 2015…complaint for a sore throat he had for some time…each visit they would give him a z-pac and some anti-inflammatory medication and see if it helps…come back and they can schedule a CT scan and referred to an ENT. Holidays came and went…but his sore throat never did…instead it become more painful and he had new pain in his ear. January 28th we thought was a normal visit…get a scope down the throat…feel for swollen glans…doc feels something so he ordered a CT…and to be completely honestly with you we didn’t think anything of it…went to grab…

I Hope Winter is Finally Past…
…but now is the time to share some of my winter sessions. Missing Friendships…
My daughter made such wonderful friends with neighbors across the street and they are such a wonderful family…I would be able to see their adorable faces on a daily basis and I can honestly say I miss them. Changing One’s Perspective Can Be Make a Difference…
I feel photography is art…and love having almost every single photograph “off-entered”. But I also love changing my perspective. Photographing kids can be a difficult task to begin with but just changing one’s perspective can help give the emotion in the image…I love every form of photography…and almost every form of art, but when it comes to picture and the ones that grab my attention and love are those of a unique and different perspective. Spring Break ~ at home
I always see posts on Facebook and twitter about warm weather vacation trips with the family…I have never personally taken the family during spring break…I am a HOT weather lover and feel any where down south would not be warm yet…let alone the ocean…am I crazy for thinking this? Garfield Elementary Talent Show ~ Frankie’s last year
You know its bittersweet to see your children grow up…this is the last year my youngest daughter is in elementary school…this seems so unreal to me…my baby is going into middle school…where has the time gone? Every year she loved participating in the Garfield Talent show both performing and behind the scenes…as she got older I was happy when she decided to be the “performer” and got to see her up front and center…nothing like watching your own children and their friends grow into their own…couldn’t be more proud. New Family Members
It is not everyday you get new family members… pets that is. My daughter falls in love with each and every hamster she get…unfortunately they never last longer than a year and a half at the most! Ugh…in the beginning it was tough to see her saddness when she lost one…but love the fact when she is ready to get another one. In the beginning when she lost “Lucy” she immediately wanted another one. Then came “Peachy” which all she did was compare the two…that was first mistake number 1 ~ they were completely different hamsters with completely different dispositions…but nonetheless I fell in love with the little guys myself.…

Friends for Life ~ Children Photography
Many children have a favorite stuffed bunny, bear, monkey, or puppy or even a blanket they adore, and bring almost everywhere. God forbid this object gets lost or left at home. I have personally run out to pick up “Bunny” late at night because somehow it was “forgotten”…can’t even imagine how when these little “Friends for Life” are loved so much. My oldest daughter was attached to her blanket that belonged in her crib…a thick comforter that over the years turned into a see-through thin piece of material that faded terribly but you could tell it was well loved. My youngest daughter grew attached to a Precious Moment’s stuffed bunny…

The Dread of January
I sit here very pleased with my business and my passion I have for what I do for a living but sometimes wonder if I can do more. I am trying to get my non-profit organization up and running but this is going to take time…my free photo shoots for family in needs and fundraisers are a start but it is harder to contact the fellow photographers and getting them on board is much more difficult that I anticipated. Family finally gets together…
…this past year has been hard on my family with the passing of our dad and grandmother. My sister from Oregon was able to come with her husband for a visit. Along with my brother for a short few days with his family. With all of us spread around it’s quite difficult to get all of us in the same spot…this year we did it…here are a few highlights from everyone’s visits. These are all the nieces and nephews…well with one exception of one little boy…I think he had enough pictures at that moment…can’t believe how fast they are growing. The Beauty is in Children…
…I get so happy and excited when I have the chance to photograph children…the pure innocence and the “authentic” soul of an individual is when they are young and yet not truly seeing the world for what it is. And when I capture that one image from every sessions and I say “Now that’s a keeper”…I know I captured their true beauty. How Quickly the Years Go By…
…it always amazes me how time flies! As days can drag on and you may wish one to be over with already your almost blindsided by the reality of it all. With a blink of an eye looking back time goes by ever too quickly. Take Emily for instant. I can remember her mom’s baby shower and how she was technically in labor that day…and when she was brought home from the hospital…so small…and when she FINALLY could say my name [well actually she said Wicky] but it just feels like it was yesterday. I have my own kids but I see the process daily…micro daily as that matter lol…
